Rare vinyl records are very hard to come by. In fact they are a little like older antiques some will sell for a little and some for a lot. When looking for the most expensive record it is hard to beat the record that sold for a whopping 2 million dollars which you can read more about here

Although each genre of music has it’s own rarities and gems. Some of the key areas that can turn up those little gems are as follows:

• Rare Jazz Records – Original Blue Notes or modern late 1960’s/ early 1970’s British Jazz.
• Rare Progressive Rock LP’s. These are often one off titles or even private pressed Lp’s by obscure bands that perhaps produced one or two LP’s. Look out for Spiral Vertigo Titles, or Decca Nova or Deram labels.
• Rare Punk Singles – These will again often be one hit wonders, but best of all in home made sleeves. Sometimes these singles were only for sale at the actual gig and not commercially released.
• Rare Reggae Singles and rare Northern Soul Records. – Both these genres have many many titles, but not being widely available can mean that they are very rare and in some cases very valuable.
